Yesterday, Sir Roger Moore has passed away at the age of 89. According to his family’s Twitter, he died following “a short but brave battle with cancer”. The late veteran British actor was best known for playing Simon Templar in the 1960s television spy series, The Saint as well as portraying the suave 007 agent in seven James Bond films between 1973 and 1985.

In his first Bond film titled Live and Let Die, he famously wore the heavily-modified Rolex Submariner 5513 with a customised buzzsaw bezel that able to spin and cut through ropes. Moore could also be seen wearing the Rolex Submariner in The Man With The Golden Gun (1974).

Seiko was again served as the official timepiece for Sir Roger Moore-era Bond movies, with model H357 5040 Quartz Alarm-Chronograph making an appearance in For Your Eyes Only (1981). The watch was able to receive a digital message at the top of the watch face. Moore‘s fifth Bond movie also featured another Seiko watch, in the form of model S60583 seen during his diving scene.
